Joe Kowalisyn is the father of 4 beautiful children (2 sets of twins) and husband to the amazing Amelia Kowalisyn. He has 3 handsome boys at home and 1 gorgeous daughter in heaven. All 4 of Joe’s children have spent time in the NICU, ranging from 4 days to 29 days. His first set of twins are Alex and Emma. Born at 31 weeks, both kids needed to spend time in the NICU. Alex was a feeder and grower. No real issues at all. Emma, on the other hand was not progressing normally and at a week old she was airlifted to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis. Emma was just 23 days old when what was determined to be a stroke in utero proved to be more than her precious body could take. After losing his daughter, Joe and his wife formed Emma’s Footprints as a way to enable Emma’s memory to carry on through the works the organization performs.

Joe’s second set of twins, Cameron and Christian, came out perfect! Both spent 4 days in the NICU for precautionary reasons. They are 15 months old now and doing great. All 3 boys and 1 beautiful daughter are the pride and joy of their Dad.

Outside of being the Treasurer for Emma’s Footprints Joe works full time as the IT Director at the Illinois College of Optometry. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and expanding his new found joy in all things Disney.
